The global village of celiac disease

2004

In the last years our knowledge on epidemiology of celiac disease has increased: there is a wide spectrum of its clinical presentation (classical, atypical, silent and latent forms of celiac disease), and of its pathological mucosal intestinal features, which range from early and mild pictures to severe villous atrophy (Marsh stages). In addition, a strong genetic component, associated with the susceptibility to the disease (HLA and non HLA genes), has been found. This knowledge, together with the availability of new high sensitive and specific serological tests (antigliadin, antiendomysium and antitransglutaminase antibodies), has led us to the realization that celiac disease is the most c…

Prawa człowieka w rzeczywistości globalnej wioski

2015

The area widely and loudly discussed, often raised in the public discourse is the topic of human rights. This topic is not new, it was already known in antiquity. Today it acquires a specific context of a shrinking global reality. As a result of computerization and media the world has become a global village, in which the events happening in the one place can at the same time can be reported in another. On the one hand we can see the cultural diversity and on the other there is a global diffusion of symbols and values. So does globalization help or impede the adoption of the same rights as fundamental human rights? Is the universality of these rights possible? Or perhaps cultural difference…

Nomadtown, Manifesting the Global Village Hypothesis: A Case Study of a Rural Resilience Hub Within an Educational Milieu in North Karelia, Finland

2022

How Can World Leaders Understand the Perverse Core of Terrorism?

2017

Based on the recently-dated terrorist attacks perpetrated in Europe, where terrorists weaponized classic forms of transport against civilian targets, one might speculate that likely mobilities and terrorism would be inextricably intertwined. In the mid of this mayhem, this chapter centers on the mobilities-paradigm as an ideological platform that keeps the interests of ruling elite, inasmuch as only 1% of mankind is legally authorized to travel worldwide. It is vital for social scientists to interrogate on the cultural effects of 9/11, in a world which is characterized by serious economic imbalances. In this world of full contrasts, while first world tourists are encouraged to move from one…
